Thanks, that was quite insightful. I think one of the draws of "Cargo Cult" as a term is that it's a catchy (it alliterates!) and short term to describe "doing something because others are doing it without really understanding it, and thus not reaping the benefits". I've spent a little bit of time looking for an alternative term to use - "bandwagon effect" comes pretty close ("Bandwagon Agile" seems pejorative enough ;-)).
