I offered once to start up a women's self defense class at a university. I was told that it would be more productive to teach men not to rape.
The myth that it is better to be proactive than reactive has born some sick mutant children. That is one of the reasons that so many of the sheep get behind gun control. By being proactive and removing the tools then the undesirable behavior will not manifest, or so they believe. It's also inherent in the whole increased policing for crime prevention. Utopian ideals
