I'm just disgusted by the incompetence in that office. Thanks for shedding some light on this, because to read the story in the Courant, it seemed like this was a bag job by the City Council. Clearly, this is evidence of yet more stellar reporting coming from that flimsy excuse for a paper.

The nonsense spewing forth from Republican Registrar Sal Bramante is the result of his incompetence...

Not, Kevin, one of your better efforts. When your blog is most useful is when you provide docs or other specifics. To what "nonsense" does your post refer?
Bottom line; I belong to a private organization whose governance is for some reason entangled with the municipal government guys. Whether Wooden or some other Dem can find the money to operate the election is not my concern. My participation in the Republican election will not be prevented by municipal mismanagement or petty partisanship.

Peter,

read the documnents again. The Registratr submitted a budget which was appeoved by the Mayor and Council based on their requests to operate their office. If it isn't incompetence to exceed that budget by over 25% then what would you call it? Every other department head is expected to live within their budget and be fiscally reponsible, why not the registrars?

It is not clear how much was spent during the Democratic primary Tuesday.

Before the primary, Vazquez said: "I will proceed as normal to make sure the candidates are equally represented at the polls. If I exceed my amount they've allowed me, I will go to court."

Kevin:
There may be incompetence, as you insist, but I don't see the evidence of Sal B.'s. The Dems have had their very important town committee election administered by municipal taxpayers. How much did it cost? Rather than complain about incompetence better to ask why we have three registrars (with assistants) on the muni payroll. For my money, I don't see why the muni guys are involved at all in internal corporate governance such as primaries and town committee elections.

Republican Primary? There will be more poll workers than voters. the Registrars jobs are a joke. They work about 5 days a year and spend the rest of the time fighting with each other.
