Right about now the chant needs to be "ABP, anyone but Pedro" Segarra is a train wreck and he would do himself and his reputation a service by bowing out gracefully and letting someone competent run this City, maybe we could even get him a lifetime pass to the City Skybox at the stadium or at least for a couple years until it fails. Pedro and his staff could do all the Oxycontin and Mushrooms up there they want, it will be worth it for him to go away. Good luck Judge Killian, you and your family have a long history of love and service to this City and your compassion for the people of Hartford has shown through your treatment of them as Probate Judge

Judge Killian sees the entire 'picture' very clearly. He understands the issues and problems Hartford is facing. The judge criticized Segarra repeatedly in his "View of Hartford", from the stadium to leadership and accountability.
You have my vote too, Judge.

Hartford will never recover if it doesn't remove Pedro-Caviar-Segarra, it's cancerous tumor.

March 21, 2015 at 6:49 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hartford definitely has an abnormal tumor growth, that's Segarra, but it's also spreading to other parts of the body, that's city hall: Kee Borges and Henri Alexandre at Corporation Counsel, Thomas Deller at Planning, Huertas at FD, Maribel LaLuz and Hilda Munoz at New Media. Remove them all so Hartford will be on its way to full recovery.

Did anyone else get campaign literature from Segarra, sorry I meant Campaign litter? I used mine to wipe up the dog shit, what did you do with yours?

Everyone should throw it over the gated home of this Creep, maybe he can have a yard goat clean it up, Charlie would be so so upset.

Everyone bring all the lying literature and dump it on Prospect Ave at the Freaks house.

Bravo! Killian's presentation of the city's recent history and the present policy considerations should be a model for all of our candidates, and not just mayoral ones. I have further questions, of course. In particular, I'd like to have a comment from a Mayoral candidate on policing. Can we get someone to support and facilitate the work they do, if not apologize for the disgraceful performance of Dan Malloy last year regarding tasing up on Albany Ave.?

5. The next mayor must engage in difficult negotiations with public employee unions
6. We have to decrease property taxes on all properties, residential and commercial.

Never heard such an understanding of the region, its history, problems and opportunities from a political candidate in Hartford. This guy appears to be much smarter than the usual notalents around here. I'd say that Segarra has a real problem on his hands.

Is it coming down to Luke Bronin or Judge Killian for mayor? Either one of them will be better than the caviar man. Pedro Caviar must go. Go home.

March 21, 2015 at 9:23 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Judge & Bronin should get together, Mayor & Chief of Staff and next Mayor. Gale & Cruz don' t have a shot, perhaps they can be included in the talks, if they truly want the city to move forward, they will leave their ego's at the door and help move Caviar out of City Hall for Hartford to have an infusion of honest, moral, competency and
intelligence, none of which Pedro has.

When Pedro looks in the mirror, do you think he sees failure? Unfortunately Hartford sees and lives it daily.

To The Honorable Judge Killian:
Your assessment is brilliant. It should be titled "OUR view of Hartford".
The residents of this city should greatly appreciate your excellent job!

To be honest with anonymous at 8:02 AM I have much more respect to your dog shit than any literature - campaign or other - coming from Segarra.

Unfortunately, the average Hartford resident dose not know who local and state politicians are and are not registered has many, many problems. The reality that the capital city will turn around is extremely hvoters. I am thrilled that so many gentlemen are interested in running for Mayor. However, Hartford ard to believe. Hartford is my home town. A vision is only a thought. How dose it happen?

Great idea, Killian & Bronin working together to remove Caviar and bring, exactly as 10:09 AM says: honesty, moral, competency and intelligence to the office.

Besides signing fraudulent time sheets for the munchkin wife of his, what about the missing 600,000 to his friend O'garro to pay Daddy his rent. Scruples, Morals, Ethics, none of these are in Cloud or Pedro's vocabulary. Maybe his Done Deal Boy Shawn will stand alongside him again with that same Howdy Dowdy grin he had on his wimpy face last time.

Judge Bob Killian's vision is an excellent document. It would be very helpful if Hartford's poor and needy could read and comprehend.
It is indeed amazing that so many gentlemen are interested in running for Mayor. Pedro Segarra is out at first base. He must be thrilled that so many are interested in leading Hartford. Good luck Judge Bob Killian, Attorney John Gale, Attorney Luke Bronin and Councilman Joel Cruz.

March 21, 2015 at 6:42 PM

Forget John Gale and Joel Cruz, they're waiting their time and iurs.
The only 2 serious candidates are Bronin and Killian. However, Segarra Caviar is relying on the Hispanic vote as well as other votes splitting among the other candidates and, as a result, winning the election.
SEGARRA CAVIAR MUST BE STOPPED.

Unfortunately, many Hartford residents don't read or write, they only know how to count the money they get from social security each month.

At 68 even if elected then what.. This is a young mans game.. It's far from a dream job.. It will take at lease 8 years to make any tangible difference.. Hartford needs to bet on a new generation.. 40 years ago Hartford made governors.. Hartford has been on the cusp of greatness and calamity for years.. Maybe just maybe, Hartford could be at an economic engine for the region. Or maybe I'm just a resident that believes too much in our capitol city. It's luke or broke.. No matter what Mr Killian writes to this blog, however well intentioned it's somthing a 68 year old can't deliver. I hope he see the political landscape and helps Luke and doesn't hurt the Capitol city

If Judge Killian claim in his View of Hartford, that our city is the 2nd poorest in the nation is true, and Segarra is paying so many city employees over $100,000 (some employee much more tan $100K) together with out of control pensions, there's no doubt in our minds: Segarra will bankrupt this city very soon. He, Segarra, will enrich himself, but will bankrupt us at the very same time.

It's Bronin or Killian (ABP = Anyone But Pedro). I don't care Killian is 68 yrs. old (I know a 69 yr. old dude who still has lots of you know what; #69 is coincidental). Killian understands the problems, Killian knows what need to be done. However, Killian will have to explain and convince us how he intends to do it.

--------------
What does Luke know of the town's history? Does he understand the intricacies of our municipal government's operations (and mismanagement)? What does he have to say about the budget?

He may be a great guy, but I don't understand how his candidacy is inevitable in the least?

@Anonymous 2:00 AM I take issue with what you posted: "...it's something a 68 year old can't deliver." Really? What a ridiculous, ageist comment that is. Do some research There have been many people in their 60s and even older throughout history who have "delivered" in the area of government, and many other fields. "This is a young man's game..." Right there, you're saying that this is a job for a man--so a woman couldn't cut it? "Hurt" the capital (not "capitol")city? In what way? Luke Bronin is a good man--intelligent and personable--and would most likely use the mayorship as a steppingstone to a high position in state or federal government. Judge Killian would be mayor as a capstone to a long, dedicated, successful career in the service of the city that he knows and loves so well. Nothing you say offers proof that he is not vigorous or sharp. I am a lifelong resident--and there are many others--who believe that he is more than up to the job. Age is not an issue in this case. You'll have to come up with something better than that.

In his assessment Judge Killian is writing about working closely with the legislature. High taxes - commercial and residential - in Hartford is a gigantic problem. One way to cut taxes is by increasing PILOT'S from 30 to 50%. Obviously that must be discussed with the legislature. How exactly does Judge Killian intend to achieve this?

Most likely by having a respectful relationship with the legislature for a start. Hell, Segarra had to give Minnie's daughter a job in his office to get her support

There are currently 7 governors, 28 senators and 65 members of Congress 68 years of age or older, many who are over 75, including Jerry Brown, at 76, governor of that small, easily manageable state of California.

I'll support a 68 yr. old candidate for mayor if he's smart, healthy and honest.
However, you must remember that most of our council members: Aponte, Deutsch, Anderson, Jennings and Kennedy, are bunch of morons, not to mention chief moron Wooden, and this makes it more difficult to do anything positive in the city for a younger or older mayor.

Kevin, I'm not trying to be mean but the "majority" of Hartford's residents are not going to read the judge's vision and if they did ,I honestly and sadly think they are not educated enough to comprehend the content. Just look at, not only the voter turnout, but WHO they voted for. As a born ,raised and former resident of Hartford ,I truly am sorry for those I left behind. Kevin, unfortunately I have no segway from above topic to my question for you,,WHY IS "PASTOR WILL" STILL ON WTIC AM RADIO???? HE WAS A ON AIR PARTNER WITH JOHN ROWLAND WHILE ROWLAND WAS USING THE AIRWAVES ILLEGALLY!!! HE IS NOW SAYING HE "THINKS" HE LEFT THE STATION TEMPORARILY WHILE ALL THIS DIRTY WORK WAS GOING ON!"PASTOR WILL" COULD'NT HAVE BEEN THAT OUTTA THE LOOP,IN COURT ,HE STOOD UP FOR HIS "CLOSE" AND "PERSONAL" FRIEND. HE REMINDS ME OF SGT. SCHULTZ FROM HOGANS HEROES "I KNOW NOTHING". WHAT A LIAR! EVERYONE SHOULD CALL THE STATION TO HAVE HIM REMOVED,HE GIVES A BAD NAME TO HONEST RELIGIOUS LEADERS ACROSS THIS STATE!

Bronin, whose musical genre is country, appreciates that Hartford has a “rich, vibrant culture” and moves to the “beat of many rhythms.” He said one of his priorities was to promote the arts and culture in all parts of the city, “Latino and West Indian, across the board,” not just downtown.
“We need to embrace each other’s culture,” he said, citing as an example the annual Puerto Rican Day parade.

It seems to me that the judge doesn't have all the facts correct. Most if not all of the funding for converting commercial space to housing downtown is coming from the state. Also the convention center and front street were not city initiatives they were done by the state. Also I wouldn't peg Front Street/Capital Grill as pushing Morton's out- I go to Capital Grill often and never went to the other place. Morton's didn't run a good business and attract new customers. I also think that his assessment of what needs to be done are rather rosy but at least he is acknowledging issues that the current mayor either isn't capable of acknowledging or is just happy being ignorant. With regards to the judges age, it shouldn't be a big issue but I do think Hartford needs someone in the job of mayor who has something to loose. I would assume Luke would want to go on to do other things and that can really only happen if he turns Hartford around.

OK Kevin, that's Judge Killian view of Hartford. You have to be dairy and report Segarra's view as well, but I'll be happy to assist you:
1. Enriching Pedro.
2. Enriching Charlie O.
3. Enriching Sand and Terry.
4. Getting jobs to family and friends within city hall, even if they're qualified to do nothing.
