Isn't it ridiculous and outrageous that Pedro is still running our city? That's running it to the ground, running it to bankruptcy

The anti-Segarra position is well understood. A bit more positive promotion of Judge Killian would be more useful at this point. Or, at least, a bit more of it could be mixed in with the entirely appropriate criticism of Mr. Caviar.
The deterioration of civilization in town, especially in its North End, is also well understood. It's not Pedro's doing. However, a better Mayor might make better use of the cops, might be more supportive of them, let the world know that we the people of Hartford stand behind them when they perform the job of maintaining order in our barbaric streets.

The biggest problem the City has, or at leas the biggest problem we have that can be addressed by the municipal government, is that government's budget. A real Mayor would not only take note of the Moody's downgrade, but would go to the people and explain that the municipal government can no longer SPEND has it has in the past. There will be no expansion of State support; it too is poorly managed by Attorney Bronin's former Boss and his Party.
Judge Killian is the only candidate I've heard address the City's acute financial problem.

Peter,

As always I appreciate your comment and analysis. As much as I would love that every key stoke I type here could be for support of Bob Killian. not everyone comes here to read that. I think the more important role is to educate people what a fraud Pedro Segarra is and why he needs to go. Bob has been the only candidate that is actually coming up with ideas and solutions. The others seem to be more like parrots than Mayoral quickly adapting Bob's position papers to use as their own whether it is PILOT , Public Safety or other issues Bob has put time and thought into. But in the meantime PEDRO SEGARRA NEEDS TO GO. either that or let's begin now changing the signs at our borders to DETROIT EAST, Segarra is quickly heading us there

Thanks, Kevin. I agree, and didn't mean to suggest there's not room for ongoing honest, if not to the extent of utter gratuitousness and vulgarity, criticism of the present Mayor.

A new sheriff in town, Sheriff Pedro. If he's now in charge - like he pretends to be - remind him that we'll be getting short soon by about 90-100 police officers. Time to wake up and do something, and not because it's an election year.

At least Pedro gets a great haircut every few days, like that presidential candidate John Edward. See the Pedro-Edward similarities, both have great hair style, both live in a fantasy world, far from reality, they are both corrupt.

There's nowhere & nothing "anti-Segarra". The People of Hartford simply ask for, and deserve, a better, competent mayor. The People of Hartford are looking for a real, honest leader.

Because Mayor Caviar ignored the staffing report of the HPD,thus creating the atmosphere for these shootings,he is almost as much to blame for the murders and violence as the shooters are.

June 29, 2015 at 12:30 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Mr. Rubenstein,
Mayor Pedro Caviar ignored the staffing report for a long time. HPD is short on many police officers, they don't even have a PO in the area to know about that neighborhood basketball tournament. Even if they knew about this Sat. event, there's no manpower to attend the event.
Another solution, get a PO/s on overtime, which is what is currently done, but the city just can't afford more police overtime.
The conclusion: It's a gross mismanagement by Mayor Pedro Caviar.

There would be enough officers, if they all weren't racking up PJ'S 24 / 7. Kevin you want to expose waste, set up a sight and ask everyone to take pictures of all the officers on PJ'S sitting in their cars, talking & playing games on their phones, in friends apartments, hiding behind buildings, in the store getting free stuff and on & on...
We all see it in our travels and I know you see it in your travels.

"It's extremely misleading. It's factually not true," said Richard Wareing about Segarra's claims for success, (Segarra appointed Wareing to the board of education, he serves as it chairman). Segarra and Wareing have recently tangled over budgets, but Wareing said he hasn't publicly committed to a mayoral candidate.
"It's extremely misleading. It's factually not true."
Richard Wareing

"It's demonstrably not true," he said. "I can't say whether it's more incompetent than it is dishonest or more dishonest than it is incompetent. Because it's both."

I can describe him as Hispanic male, 50's, glasses, white shirt, jeans.
is he the 'assistant sheriff'?
who is this person and what was he doing there??

when Pedro Caviar Segarra became mayor, he stated what his "Core Values" were. His #1 "value" was this:

"Each department makes professional and fiscally responsible decisions."

hey, Segarra, please explain what exactly is "professional and fiscally responsible" in the decision to purchase or lease this very expensive Chevy Tahoe. If your answer is that you have no values at all, I'll accept it.

Last night a person was stabbed in the Blue Hills Av. area. The victim had numerous wounds, was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition but expected to survive after an emergency surgery.

Just the day before, sheriff know-nothing Segarra called the neighborhood "stable".

As part as Pedro's campaign activities, did he visit the victim who is listed in critical condition?

Yo, Pedro, this is a serious matter.

Mr. Rubenstein he also ignored the report of his violating the Acting Position of Chapman and said he would be gone by last October.

Bronin & the Judge need to bring up all the Acting positions of the retired workers as well as his blatant violations of the Charter & City Ordinance at the next debate and in their Campaign Literature.

Pedro has no Respect for State Laws, City Laws, Policy, Procedures or the Charter. Says a lot about him and his integrity.

Charlie was busy doing city work, with city equipment in Elizabeth Park and he had to put Segarra ' s weekly schedule together so he told Pedro to call his flunky Juan Figueroa.

Shooting in Hartford is an everyday occurrence. Everyday, including ladt night, including 4th of July. Every single day, and mayor Segarra still refuses to add 70, 80 police officers to get back to the required HPD manopower.

These latest shootings with victims in critical condition took place not far from Segarra future stadium. A commentator on this blog suggested once that the Hartford Goat Yards name be changed to the Hartford Rat Yards. A Courant reader recently suggested to name the team the Hartford Shooters.

how would anyone expect segarra to add police officers when the city is broke, totally broke. this is how segarra thinks he would save millions. after all segarra already spent a little big fortune for his dream ballpark on a bunch of lawyers-friends and 'consultants'. saundra kb herself cost another fortune. well you guessed it, a complete chaos, that's what segarra brings to the table.

The way this city is, he will get re elected. The same chief will stay in charge , even though he single handedly destroyed the department. And did anyone notice how chief Ford is on his phone while at a crime scene? Shows how much he cares. But I'm sure a cover story will come up as to why he was on his phone. This city needs an overhaul bring back a chief that was like harnett. And get rid of the poison we have running the department. Also get rid of all city management and bring in a real mayor and city management team.

Hartford baseball:
As a 40 year resident of Hartford, its clear the Gangs are back in business. What is most disturbing is that Civic leaders are dead silent, unless it involves a white person or police officer. That comes across as either being part of the problem or simply focusing on their own agenda. I have been a champion of Hartford my whole life, and what has gone on the last 6 months is alarming, frightening and sad. The Agenda's that people have, and the power of social media cloud the real issues facing our City. Throwing money at the problem isn't the answer, as the inner city residents are scared to death to speak up. Get the drugs out of the bars and clubs, make penalties tougher, and make it difficult.

Well scratch Bow Tie Cinemas off the list of places to go see a movie. The violence in Hartford is spreading down close to the West Hartford line. About the only thing good I can say about Hartford is that it's probably safer than East St. Louis Illinois (which is so dangerous it has lost three quarters of its population since 1950) or the country of Honduras (popularly known as the most dangerous country in the world where there isn't an actual war in progress). Things are beyond out of control in Hartford.
