FYI. Today during comstat "Big" changes announced in the EAP (employee assistanc program) all of a sudden at HPD as it relates to domestic violence. Maybe the EAP coordinator wont work road jobs everyday, and will finally start doing his job. Did you FOI how private jobs and OT the chiefs pals who have had that EAP spot have worked over the past five years??? Dont pat yourself on the back too hard- as usual the changes will be cosmetic and short lived. Remember, it is the good old boys club. The chiefs pals wont be disciplined for the years of ineptitude. The EAP coordinator will eventually revert right back to its old ways.... And we can count on more domestic violence arrests, more alcohol abuse and possibly another predictable suicide (sorry, it is true) at HPD. Lack of leadership....

I don't need to pat myself on the back. Knowing that someone is paying attention and whether the change comes from something I post or if it is just a coincidence that positive change occurs, I'm fine with knowing that somehow a broke system is being fixed.

There are a lot of things happening that wouldn't be happening if light wasn't being shined on the problems. Like the blog or not, no one can deny the impact of making people aware of what is happening in a hopefully fair and honest manner.

The hard part is to stay on top and make sure it isn't a short lived cosmetic fix like you mentioned.
