Sad to see those young officers leave after the initial training. The get post certified and then leave after a year for better pay. To top it all off they even get to retire at the 20 year mark! So they get better pay, and retire four years sooner. And they don't have to deal with Hartford's troubles. Sounds like a no brainier if you ask me.

Im currently a 4 year officer. I have no gripes or issues other then it is depresssing that towns like Newington and Wethersfield pay tens of thousands more. Those towns also deal with 1/10 th the non sense that goes on in Hartford. The fact is most politicians only care when it affects their direct pay or agenda. Mayor Mike actually seemed to care and love the city. It is quite obvious that our current mayor just wants that Judge positon, and will do the bare minimum to get there. I have considered leaving, but only time will tell.....

The Whale Game had like 1,200 fans the other day. No stores or select restauarants are open on sunday. Many concerts are going to other venues. Pretty soon the Downtown District will look Diserted. The city is soo lucky that Uconn plays downtown, cause without that, what Disney on Ice and the Circus? What a great downtown financial structure. Oh I did not forget the 300,000 loan for the moldy strawberries at the grocery store. Sorry Kevin, Looks like stop and Steal on prospect for you....

The amount of money spent on dumb ideas is pretty funny. Lets put more money into shelters for criminals. 40,000 to fund a shelter? Now if it is for a domestic violence/ female/ children shelter, then I understand. But the majority of residents using these shelters are drug addicts, car breakers, and contribute greatly to crime in Hartford. Its funny how my wife works downtown and is scared to leave her building, because there are some filthy bums standing outside the meth clinic begging for money. But I guess nothing will get done....

Thanks to the City of Hartford I gained a wealth of experience. Suburban culture, pay raise, life time medical, and a MERF Plan here I come. Watch how many more jump ship...

Channel 3 needs to do an investigation! A raise for the mayor, what an example to show the 5,000 citizens who voted you in.

(Also includes the elderly voters that you forced to, when you and your thugs blocked Vargas supporters)

*the fact of the matter is that Hartford's police officers probably have some of the toughest working conditions in the state*

I beg to differ, I would say from experience, Htfd teachers, have among the toughest working conditions in the state. :)

At least they can be armed...and when they call for back-up someone answers the call for help.

[My apologies for nit-picking.]
