that's a shame about the pitchfork column, since it's one of the things i look forward to each month (as well as the main reason why i pass by the site)

would be nice to see a column on here of some sorts to pass the time till october

If you do the disco thing I think the ability to grow a suitably Kosmische-style beard should be included in the scoring...

how backward of pitchfork--- it's only (by any objective view) the most exciting/innovation/'hyped' (denigrating, but probably true) musical genre at the moment. Here are my theories (Blckdwn tell me if I'm right with any of them!):

1) canonization of 90s indie a la classic rock on FM radio in the US-- this is the abyss p4k has always threatened to recede into anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if they just changed the URL to neutralmilkfork.com

2) the remnants of the pop landscape post-MJ: or, white people (and black people writing like white people) writing about Kanye West

3) taking on the role of the NME's older brother, or more appropriately, father-- taking the sh*t the NME produces and recycling it without really knowing what it's doing-- akin to when you leave a CD in your dad's car and see him bobbing his head later and you ask "what were you listening to?" and he goes "No idea but it had a nice groove!"

4) more world (read: Scandanavian + African) music, the occasional feature on throat-singers, nusrat fateh ali khan, etc.

yuck.

Sucks about Pitchforks "push". Instead they'll just tell us what we already know-Joker is a god and Grime sucks these days as evidenced by the total lack of releases, coverage of said non-existent tunes.
