And of course, he implies that today's Democrats are still exactly like the Dixicrats of 45+ years ago, who defected to (and subsequently infected) the Republican party so that they could let their bigotry flags fly. It seems that the Devil can indeed twist history for his own purposes (to paraphrase the old saying).

He's omitting a lot of the history and distorting what he does present. Also, lying.

Conservatives take "Dickensian" as a term of approbation, largely because they don't have to live that way, and it is unconscionable that they expect us to.
