We still don't know whether it was a rogue Syrian commander that used the Sarin in defiance of orders... if that happened, Assad might not want to publicly admit it had occurred for fear of being accused of ordering the strike secretly and then throwing the commander under the bus.

One of my objections to a military strike is that violating international law to punish others for violating international law is not the way to solve this problem. I'd also like to see some hope that the military strike would actually accomplish something other than making us feel like we're "doing something."
