I get what you are saying and in particular have fought my State's vaccine consent forms, particularly regarding the school flu drives but the practice of medical coercion is actually supported by a specific bioethical philosophy that is used throughout the U.S./World.

This legitimate medical ethical philosophy that allows for the withholding of information during consent is called therapeutic privilege. In an effort to maintain high vaccine coverage practitioners use therapeutic privilege to withhold serious side effects, and vaccine ingredients. This is part of the Hippocratic ethics and is contradictory to liberal political philosophy, which mandates "meaningful information must be disclosed even if the clinician does not believe that it will be beneficial" (Veatch, pg. 72). Therapeutic privilege is a utilitarian moral principle that enacts greater good agendas. It is used all the time in medicine and is upheld even though it violates transparent informed consent. Veracity, which follows the liberal political philosophy states; "A formalist or deontological moral principle that hold that actions or rules are morally right insofar as they involve communicating truthfully and avoiding dishonesty" (Veatch, pg. 81).

There are both types of practicing clinicians working through out the United States. It depends on the philosophy of the clinician in how the parent/patient will be consented (both types represent legitimate informed consent). And then of course if the provider is even educated on the subject.

I have consented 1000s of patients throughout my career and wondered how providers were able to get away with withholding information like this. I discovered that it is well within the right of providers to do so if they hide behind this unique clause in Hippocratic ethics.
