This isn't terrible at all; you've made really good use of anaphora both at the start of your lines and within them. I really enjoyed reading it, and I find those puppy eyes hard to resist too ... smiles

I loved this... you're letting that marshmallow heart show! I can imagine that a good number of critters owe their lives and wellbeing to your generosity and care. And how good it feels when we are able to help those who ask so little of us and give so much love in return. This was a great piece of writing, loved the form!
