Hi Mike,
Somewhere along the line this dude fell off the turnip truck! Before Boy Scouts, Before Cub Scouts, Before Kiddiegarden, my Parents and all significant others in our community began teaching us "Respect for our Countrys' Flag!" It goes back that far. The only out this dude may have is that he just got to this Country yesterday...and I seriously doubt that!! He has "NO" excuse for his action and remarks!
Got Gunz??,

True story:

One evening, as we reported to work at a large public "futility", I and several of my co-workers noticed the rent-a-cops on the security detail had taken down the American flag, wadded it up like someone's dirty sheets and stuffed it on top of a file cabinet in the guard shack in plain view of anyone entering the building. This became a topic of some debate among us while we waited for the official shift change-over. Two former members of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children decided a letter to the editor or an email to the company president was not going to cut it. They proceeded back down to the guard shack and in short order forced their way inside, promised the guards that unpleasant things would happen if they didn't back off and pay close attention, and gave a quick demonstration on proper flag folding and etiquette.

Needless to say letters to the editor, company president, and both of Florida's U. S. Senators were sent as follow up. There was a whole lot of hand wringing and butt covering in the responses we received, but thereafter the flag was always on that file cabinet, but neatly folded into the proper triangle shape.

Here's the followup story. JD Johnson was demoted, but he's keeping his $21/hour salary. Given that he was on a 120-day probationary period, he should have been FIRED.
