Whether judicial decision or legislative bill, this split the difference (compromise ) nullshit is really where we are. Bipartisan eh? This IS collectivism. This IS the outcome of "nobody wins so nobody loses". The truth is that WE ALL lose when there is no winner. Absent a clean winner there is never ending "middle ground" and that results in lawlessness. Why? Because when law become relative and subject to "discretion" - there really is no law at all.
We are a a point where the only legislation that "passes " is garbage that NOBODYBis happy with. The only judicial decisions are being infected with the same virus.
Ultimately, the Great Compromise is being compromise. Take note - that's when a good word becomes a bad word.

Sometimes compromise is a good thing: like splitting the only cookie between two children who each want a whole cookie. Sometimes it is not a good thing: allowing the Third Reich to exterminate only 3 million Jews and 10 million Slavs would be a good example. Sometimes the difference is clear, sometimes not so much. In many cases it takes an adult to tell the difference. One problem we face is that America is growing short of adults in positions of power.
