Did you miss the part about the "national data base" of those government designates as "mentally ill."
Now that's just a wonderful "solution," or the start of one. Do these "mentally ill" get to wear a gold star?

The NRA .pdf called for police presence in institutions functionally equivalent to jails, and did not explicitly call for repeal of the Gun-Free School Zones Act to permit teachers from tooling up. Seems to me the NRA is still sucking up to TPTB and encouraging the police state, rather than the individual ownership of firearms.
