Just a fantastic rant Cam. And look at you with your research and inclusion of past SI columns to reinforce your points! The Sheehan quote at the end is a terrific wrap-up and really hammers the point home. If the steroid era is really all about weeding out the “cheaters” and not personal, can anyone name any of the major leaguers (w/o Google) who’ve tested positive? I’ll even spot you Palmeiro. This has been about the media vs. Bonds from the get go.

I like when you make reference to late 80's and early 90's R&B music acts.

I very clearly remember reading a piece on the best/worst interviews or some such list thing. Both Hank Aaron and Willie Mays were mentioned for their surliness, rudeness and every other adjective but "uppity". This was about 15 years ago, but I remember the writer's implication that neither should be bitter because they were still making great money at card shows, etc. Great memory on this stuff, AJC and great post.

Great stuff Bootleg Guy. You and Sheehan are both spot on. Plain and simple, it's a witchhunt to bring down a guy no one likes. Just try telling this to anyone though.

Wow. If only 411Black were around to see how proactive you've become.

And how come you don't heckled like "what were you doing reading Sports Illustrated in the first place?"

I'd kill for readers like you.
