This is exciting! I'm reading "Mining the sky" right now, and it's very good! :-)

Wikipedia also has a very good page on asteroid mining which talks about some of the returns and logistics involved. Recommended reading.

I raise this question again, but are the asteroids (and other celestial bodies) "ours" to do with as we please? I know we haven't found evidence of any other life in the universe yet, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the universe is, by default, ours. Should we declare some bodies as "natural parks" to be left undisturbed? I think these questions are worth discussing.

as to wether or not those should be "our asteroids" for the mining...well, who should we ask?, perhapse we as a species should wait to see if an alien civ shows up, then we can ask them...if they say "go ahead, those arent our rocks" how much time will we have waseted? perhapse we shoulg get a bunch of peeople to talk about it in front of microphones behind podiums, so they can argue and eventually come up with a decision just as arbitrary as saying "theres a space rock without a flag...DIBS! its mine" leave inovation to innovators and let the schollars debate whetheror not those are our rocks, but not law makers, they will only sell our best interest to the highest bidding conservative.

Hello! Inspired by this article, a friend and I have written an article on the legal implications of this project:
