Love the shoes and your new jeans, sounds like the perfect weekend. You daughter is really a trooper coping with all of the stuff that's been going on. Wow. Good for her. Hugs, Marty
I think those shoes are going to be very snazzy for the wedding. Just perfect. And the jeans are really cute, too.
Enjoyed going to Emily's party with you and hearing all about what is going on in your life. Things here are quiet with the exception of workmen. Need I say more?
I love that your husband had to go play with his new toy. Sounds like Mr. Magpie.
A single girl weekend sounds wonderful! I can't believe all the things your daughter has been going through. One thing after another. I think it's a sign that come the day of the wedding, nothing but good times! I love the shoes you got. Very pretty! Karen
Sounds like a lovely weekend! Those jeans are adorable. Cute shoes too! Glad things are coming together. Love the pretty flower photos. Daffodils are one of my favorites. Hope you have a good week :)
Hi Jane, a weekend with the girls is always a hoot...much needed.....Love the white Tulips and your shoes are beautiful......Also the jeans, love jeans so......Dance Sister Dance, Francine.
Hi Jane, Your garden is lovely and lucky you getting some warm spring weather coming your way. A girls nite (solo or with friends) is always fun:) Sounds like you had a nice weekend! I'm loving those kitten heels and the tulips are always a favorite of mine:)
Jane ... I love reading about your days, with so much going on and you taking it all in stride. Love your new shoes and love that you had cereal for dinner. ":o) Thanks for sharing your world! Blessings! Geneva
I always enjoy your posts so much! I agree with you...we all need time alone. I had an entire week recently, and I did NOT turn the stove on!! I was ready for the hubby to get back home though. He had gone to the lake to work in the yards, and I had to stay here to help Pam with getting Rheagan to school. Anyway, I was glad for him to walk in the door. Sounds like Emily is taking everything in stride. I know the date is getting closer, so you two have all the fun you can, and keep us posted! Talk to ya!
AH, it sounds like you had a good day alone! I long for a day alone, with my hubby retired he is here ALL THE TIME:):):) The party sounds likeit was fun too and I LOOOOOVE your jeans!!! Love your shoes for the wedding too. Your poor daughter!!!!!!!!!!!! What terrible luck she has been having! So sorry about that. XO, pinky
Jane - I love your shoes and your floral jeans! Poor Emily...but I am glad she is taking it all in stride. Thank goodness she found the diamond for her ring. :)
So happy you are having beautiful weather. We, too, are having a glorious spring. Love the new shoes. Do we get a peek at the purse? '-) A girl's weekend is always fun, but then you get to have fun with your darling daughters all the time. Love seeing your garden. I've been MIA from visiting and commenting because I've had my head in the dirt. Gardening for weeks now.......Sarah
Sometimes it's such a treat to have the house to oneself - to have control of the TV remote, to read in bed, to watch something different on TV - but it's so good to welcome your other half home at the end of it!
Cute shoes, cute jeans and cute daughter! Hope Al had a good time, it sounds like you did. Your daffodils are amazing. They are blooming here now...finally. Today 80 degrees and then and i kid you not, they have snow in the forecast for Thursday. I am going to scream!!! Hugs, Cindy
Ooh-lah-lah... love the shoes:) It sounds like you were SO cute in those jeans for the PAR-TEE! I am so excited for you and the wedding plans! Have a blessed week dear friend, HUGS!
Gorgeous shoes! Sounds like you all had fun, living the single girl life at the party. I do love a margarita but only ever drink them when we're on vacation in the US, I wonder why? The SP is cooking Mexican tonight maybe I'll mix up a jug of margarita's to go with the food. Have a great week, dear friend.
Hi Janie... as always, I love lingering over your posts... sounds like you had a great single weekend... I love Jack to pieces, but really LOVE some days or nights all by myself... I love that you danced to your favorite music!... I still put the Beach Boys on and dance around like I was 16 years old again on the beach at La Jolla!... tee hee hee... keeps us young... I will never get old... Emily's party sounds like so much fun, and you both look beautiful!... sorry she has had so many things happen lately, but it sounds like she is one strong lady which is great!... your shoes for the wedding are just stunning!... and now I want some floral jeans... much love to you, xoxo Julie Marie
Sounds like fun and I bet you are becoming more at ease getting ready for the big day! So glad Emily found her diamond!!! How scary that must have been! I hope they secure it well enough this time yikes!
Love the shoes and I am in love with those pastel floral jeans!! I would love a pair myself!
It sounds as if things are moving fast at your house. I love your shoes...heels of any kind kill me these days, so I'm glad our wedding will be beachy and maybe I can get through it with flat sandals or barefoot!
Something similar happened to my ring before my wedding. The jeweler left it in the cleaning solution and forgot about it...it turned black! They had to send it away and do something to it (it was white gold) and I got it back just days before the wedding. It all comes together somehow!
You had a nice weekend? Ours was awful, cold, gray and raining all weekend long. Today is going to be 84 and is gorgeous but the rain comes back tomorrow night and temps drop 20+ degrees...supposed to rain all through the weekend.
I love the shoes! Sounds like they'll go perfectly with your dress. I didn't know your home was built in the 1930's, that's so neat! I love older homes. Glad you enjoyed your "single" weekend. :)
Your shoes are sooo cute, Jane!!! and I LOVE your floral jeans!!! I tried some on at Kohls, and loved them! Sounds like you had a great weekend. Having a single girl's weekend is fun. It's also fun when your hubby returns, isn't it. You sound happy.... xo
Looks like the details are coming together. So sorry to hear about all the irritations happening for your girl. Weddings and their details can be so exhausting. Also, I'm a single girl usually 4 days a week and let me tell you, I HATE to cook for just myself. I'm fairly happy with cheese and crackers.
Sounds like a fun weekend! I would have grabbed those tulips for sure. I can't turn down flowers! I like those jeans, too. Really pretty take on the floral trend :)
I love your shoes, very cute, Janie. Your flowers are very pretty too. I hope Emily does not get any more accidents no matter how minor. That will make me nervous. Tell her to take special care of herself....Christine
Sounds like you're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the wedding preparations. Hopefully, all of the bad luck your daughter has been having will be behind her and she can focus on her exciting upcoming wedding! My husband just got back from being out of town too. He went camping up in the Smoky Mountains in TN and did some fishing with a friend. Guys have to have their hobbies too!
Oh, I LOVE those white tulips! I actually went to our Kroger the other day looking for some, and they didn't have any left of any color. I am just going to admire yours!
Omigoodness, I can't believe all that your daughter is experiencing. She must have about died when she realized her diamond was missing, but how lucky she found it. So much trauma always seems to surround a wedding, and I think there's great relief for everyone when it's over. I like those times when I'm home alone. I wouldn't want it to be permanent, but it's great to be in my own space doing whatever.
Jane it sounds like a fun weekend. Sometimes "alone time" is so good; at least I need it from time to time. Glad your weather is improving. Great shoes!
Jane, what a fun, busy weekend you've had! what a "run" of luck your daughter' had! Maybe she just needed to get it all out of the way at once so everything can go smoothly from here on out! Cute pic of the two of you! Rebecca
I remember those days of the weddings SO well. They are precious memories..and now my daughters are going through it with their daughters...my granddaughters. I have all the fun of no work, just watching them enjoy..AND stress out! :):) Have fun Jane. I LOVE the shoes..AND the tulips..but I REALLY love the print of those pants more than anything!!
Hi Jane! I love the heels and the jeans! I know what you mean about walking in the heels though, I'm terrible at it so I go for the lower ones too.
It's great she can take that all in stride, that's so much going on at once!
The collar Sebastian was wearing is for our wedding shop on Etsy. I thought it would be cute for a dog collar that says "I do too" so the bride can take some pictures with her dog and include them in the day. We will see if anyone else likes the idea too, *fingers crossed* that they sell. :)
Hope you are having a beautiful weekend. It's gorgeous here in PA, the sun is shining!
Sounds like you are having fun with all of the wedding details. Your shoes are wonderful! A single girl weekend...lovely. Your daughter is so pretty, just like her Mom.
Love the shoes! They will be perfect. The jeans are really neat too! I'm loving all the bright colors now ~ just not buying any clothes. I'm working on weeding out and getting rid of "stuff" before I move.
Glad you had a great weekend and the shower was fun! She really is having some challenges isn't she? Not good but she seems to be such a trooper! Also, gorgeous ~

[Image]Hi everyone! I hope all of you had a great weekend. We had gorgeous weather here in Chicago and this week is going to be in the 70's, which is really weird for us at this time of year. I'm definitely not complaining! I picked up these pretty white tulips at the grocery store Saturday...couldn't resist, just $5.00 for the bunch. I think I'm going to add some white to the garden bed along the fence that I showed you last week (and thanks for all the compliments!). I smile every time I look out my windows.
The Husband packed it up and headed to the lake Saturday afternoon. He told me he was going on a sabbatical, he told Emily he was going on a retreat and told Abby he was going there to get some sleep! lol! I personally know that he has been nurturing his love affair with his new fishing boat. I think I mentioned to you that the old boat he bought last spring was too small for our rough lake. So he found another bigger used boat on Craig's List and he is happily toying with it up there right now. He'll get home tonight, exhausted I'm sure.
I, on the other hand, had what I called my single girl weekend! Saturday I cleaned, grocery shopped and made a terrific jalapeno popper dip for the Bachelorette party #2 that night. I'm going to give you the link to this dip next time...it was SO good! While I was mixing and humming and dancing a little to some 90's music all alone in my house Saturday afternoon, I felt like I was twenty again! I think we all need a little time alone once in awhile. Outside my kitchen window I could see people walking dogs and kids playing ball in the street and I just couldn't help but think how good life can be!
[Image]And look! I am tying up all my personal loose ends for the wedding. Emily and I took a trip to the mall Friday and I found my shoes. My dress has a silver broach at the waist so I thought silver shoes would compliment it. And these are kitten heels so I won't break my neck. I also found silver/crystal drop earrings and a purse.
[Image]This picture came out sideways and I couldn't fix it, but I also found these jeans in a little shop and fell in love with them. I am loving all of the bright colored jeans that I've been seeing this spring but I never thought I'd wear floral. These were just subdued enough and I wore them to the party with a gray cardigan and black flats.
[Image]The party was at Megan's house (the matron of honor), and it had a Mexican theme. See the little sombreros hanging in the door? We had salad, fajitas and rice, along with pitchers of margaritas. We played some really hilarious games, too. One was like Jeopardy, which pitted Mother In Law against Bride on who knew Mike the best. I could feel a few feathers getting ruffled when we were playing that. Another was how well we know Emily, I lost by one point to her best friend. I couldn't guess her favorite cocktail. I could tell you her favorite Gerber baby food when she was a baby but this stumped me! We had a ball and she got even more gifts, these of a more personal nature...pretty nighties, soaps and lotions and candles. She really has such a great group of family and friends.
[Image]Here's me and my girl at the party. She's having problems with her contact lenses, but oh, this is just one thing in a long line of jinxes that have been happening to the poor thing. A few weeks ago we were driving and we were rear ended by another car...just a slight tap and we were okay but she was so shook up. Then, when we had the huge rains 2 weeks ago, they had some muck come up in the basement of their new house and though it was just a little bit and caused no damage, she was down there sanitizing everything for two days. A few days later she walked outside to go to work and found she had a flat tire. And then a few days ago, the real icing on the cake, the big diamond from her engagement ring fell out. Luckily she found it under her desk, but her jeweler won't have it ready for her until two days before the wedding. That's really pushing it. She seems to be taking it all in stride, she has more energy than anyone I know.
[Image]My projects have dwindled down to almost nothing. I had a few really eye popping pictures of our totally unorganized office that I tried to upload but they kept coming in upside down. This is actually the cleanest corner. The desk is stacked with Abby's school books and there is all sorts of craft stuff and odds and ends from Emily's interior design school days. All mixed in with The Husband's work. So this is what I'm working on today. This is a really small room, in fact, it used to be a kitchen! Our home was built in the 1930's and a few years later an addition was made that they called a "Mother In Laws Quarters". It had/has 2 bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen and a living room with a small porch off one of the bedrooms. The living room is our family room and of course, we didn't need another kitchen, so first that was a nursery, then play room and now an office. It's a crazy little house we live in but sort of charming, too.
[Image]I roamed the backyard with the dogs and my coffee early this morning and discovered this lone tulip...I think it's called a stargazer (?). Just all alone.
[Image]And the last of my daffodills which bloomed during the rain and I never got to cut and bring in. I hope to get out this week and pick up some pansies for a big pot on my front porch...it's still too early to plant annuals here (even if I had the time).
SO, I'm going to get on with my day and find out when The Husband is going to tear himself away from the lake. I'm ready to make a nice big dinner, after my weekend as a single girl I found I really don't like cooking too much for myself so it was cereal for dinner last night!
Have a great week everyone! :)
XO,
Jane
