Hi! I'm doing genealogy research and am learning that my great-great grandmother was a traveling school teacher near Harlan from around 1890 until 1895. Do you know if there are any records of school teachers in the area and where I might have luck finding them?
No, I have no clue. However, the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls has been assembling a massive archive of everything about country schools. You might try contacting them.

South of Harlan, on US59, is the Harlan Municipal Airport. At the south side of this airport is County Route F58. About 1/10 mile east of US59 is this school, now used as a house.
There is actually a little community called Corely. The school was built ca.1880 and used until 1958. The first photo is as seen from the Harlan Airport.
