That chart is stunning! I never really thought about it, but gov't employees, coupled with the takers really are all of the same group. All need the gov't to sustain themselves. Hard to see how we come out ahead on this deal. :-(

seeing this chart only reinforces my own position on how truly and utterly boned we are.

Giving up is not an option.

If we go down, we go down with a fight.

And one thing is for certain. America is resilient.

If you really want to separate government workers out as a group, the chart needs to be corrected to reflect Private Sector Taxpayers and Government Worker Taxpayers. A friend just did his taxes and counting his military retirement he is paying 25% in federal taxes (nearly 35% state and fed). I'm not debating who is better, how evil it may be to be a government worker, etc., just that the vast majority of government workers (basically anyone below the very top tier) is no different from any other U.S. taxpayer. Government workers, for all their evil, pay just as much back to the government as everyone else in the middle class; including nearly $800 additional lost from their net in 2011 from the Bush tax cuts expiring.

Also it would be a good idea to split military out of government workers. It may be expensive to have an employee down at the Agriculture department checking wheat fields, but its a *lot* more expensive to have a soldier out in other countries.
