Sure, I'll sign in using my google account.

Google actually bankrolled this project right after Obama got elected. The project had test cities throughout the US.

Of course we'll have to pay higher utility bills first! After all, the Utility companies can't be expected to supply their customers with these gadgets for free, right? Yeesh!

The California Energy Commission tried this in 2008. They wanted to slip a provision into the building code requiring remote controlled thermostats in homes and businesses.

Fortunately, it was caught and revealed in time for this petty tyranny to be stopped here in this state.

But federal legislation actually encouraged remote control of all your major appliances such as dish washer, clothes dryer, and water heater, all under the code name of "smart grid."

All this is required, we're told, to prevent the high prices of electricity at peak loads. In reality, it helps accommodate intermittent green generation and gives government greater control over your life.

Imagine government being able to selectively turn off the power to the homes of political dissidents on a real time basis. Your internet and cell phone provider can also cancel your internet access in real time.

In other words, the government will be able to make large numbers of selected people incommunicado and powerless in an instant.

Just want I dont want, the US Gub and who knows who knowing when no one is home or I am on an extended vacation.

They tried to "auto install" a smart meter on my house one day without my knowledge or consent, fortunately the dogs were out back. They then left intimidating letters saying how they "had" to install the meter, yada yada. Didnt fly and I ignored their repeated requests. Eventually they gave up.

Dogs can come in handy!
