This gives us all a great perspective on the lives on musicians which bring something pleasant on some often dank subway platforms. I often wondered if they had to deal with petty thieves, sadly they do. I try to give at least a dollar to every performer I see, I appreciate them and how their efforts make traveling under ground a lot nicer.

I try to maintain an appropriately cynical demeanor but this is a hard girl not to like.

This seriously pushes me toward wanting to play my horn on the street or in the subway; I've toyed with the idea for years, but never had the nerve.

I've always had great admiration for subway musicians, and Melissa is just one more sample.

Hey Moe -- cynicism is soul-killing and useless! Here's to Melissa for helping you see the light.

Keep on playing!

I love the sound of the accordion. Adds a magic and nostalgic feel to the gritty grimy subway stations.

Great story! Can you please fix the hyperlink link to Melissa's soundcloud page (from her name at the top of the article). You've got the wrong url.

Hope she a long term plan. This is a lot more charming at 24 than 34.

Haha yeah I probably should have just killed myself when I turned 25. Who wants to see an old person play music and entertain people?! Gross!

Now where the hell did I leave my walker...
