seems a lot tamer in Athens than in other places in the world, glad the subways are working and that you can still schlep your own suitcases.

I think real travelers will know how to filter out info and tourists will always want to go to someplace that can only be picture book like travel.

You were fortunate that the subway was working during the strike. We had a taxi person who picked us up at the airport, told us he would take us back to the airport then abandoned us to fend for ourselves.
