Just one more among the many problems of a complex society. The skies are crowded and angry and the rails are a chaotic mess. So, people buy expensive electric vehicles that can leave a seven hundred horsepower hemi in the dust in an instant. If you have ever seen the instantaneous acceleration of such machines, you will understand what I am saying. I have held that complexity is a dangerous thing, yet folks can't seem to get enough of it. Like addictions to electronic devices, it holds us spellbound. And many of us are recognizing how dangerous people in a trance can be, to themselves and others. End of rant.

The 10 hour train blockage in York. Alabama sounds like a pernicious act thwarting voters to get to the polls.

Mr. Totten's point is well-made and taken. I am not an inveterate addict to conspiracy theory. However, I also understand that conspirators like to manipulate that. So, my position is more of the equal opportunity skeptic variety. I would not summarily dismiss his idea about voting in Alabama. I know that people will do things, according to interest, preference and motive. If they have reasonable expectation of covering their tracks, so much the better. Do such things as he suspects happen? Damned right they do! I respect humans who think better and pay attention. They give consciousness a good name. At the same time, doubt and skepticism are healthy. One needs to know where she or he is, all the time. And, responsible consciousness is a tall order when an average person cannot put down the phone, long enough to drive, or avoid falling into a hole.
