I'm a bit confused by your criticism of Rawls. Isn't his claim that the conflicts that arise out of ethnic, religious, or racial identities are best mediated by his principles of fairness, and that if they were so mediated they would, if not disappear, at least be greatly lessened?

I think you are claiming that even the well-ordered society as described by Rawls wouldn't be stable arise due to conflict between racial, ethnic, religious, etc. identities. Fair enough. But if it were a Rawlsian well-ordered society, then there would be a fair process to resolve these conflicts, right? Or are you saying they are irresolvable?
