Hey Dan,

Hope you are well. This is a really useful post. I am getting ready to teach the basic "scope & methods" course in our grad program in the fall. and this sis just the sort of basic dissection of what is at issue that students, especially student in programs that place a premium on technical competence, need. My brain hurts...
Does realism believe the world exists independently of people and their perceptions of it...
But also believes the knowledge people have of their situation and world affects their behaviour, that is the world does not exists independently of knowledge?

(First year Uni student and the prescribed textbooks are contradicting each other!)
