I'm not surprised about Napoleon III. I was always told the Franco-Prussian War was basically a railroad dispatch contest.

P.S. I was always told that "disinterested" meant that the party had no bets on any horse in the race while "uninterested" meant that the party didn't care that there was a horse race. Has this changed?
