Brothers in arms. Cohesiveness is critical to the cause...in totalitarianism as in authoritarianism and democracy.

I have another thought/question. The term, genocide, was unknown to me---only about fifty years ago, as best I can recall. Certainly not in common lexicon when I was in high school. Did Hitler and his ilk invent this, or do its' roots go more deeply into the past? For example, did the Crusades and such persecutions lead to or foretell more drastic attitudes and behaviors? Moreover and tragically, were revolutions an inevitable result of evolution? If answers to these questions are possibly; probably so; or yes-even any combination, thereof, my holdings on contextual reality and complexity are scary notions, worth consideration. Pinker's big book on our better angels still haunts me. As do some of the works from Susan Jacoby. I could mention other thinkers and their musings. But, I need not.
