Well Said! I feel as though we are kindred spirits. I to have read The Educated Mind and came to similar conclusions about my own learning expriences. I am still educating myself now and most of my peers find it odd that I choose to learn new things or read with vigor without being in College or taking some sort of class. They can't see the point cause they dont share my love of learning. I have a stack of classics on my shelf that I decided to read and write comparative essays and literary analysis on simply cause i feel like exercising my brain. No one gets that. Not even some of my homeschool mom friends.

Great post! My own 15-year-old daughter was having a discussion with a friend earlier this week on this very topic. Her opinions were definitely put to the test. I was very proud of how she defended her right to intellectual freedom and creativity.

I would recommend two other books: "The Teenage Liberation Handbook", by Grace Llewellyn and "College without High School" by Blake Boles. I am on my own new journey to higher education, of my own accord, my last post is about the certification process for medical interpreting that I am working through.
I'll be forwarding the link to your post a few times today!

Hi - Thanks for wanting to share your ideas & comments! I love hearing what others have to say, but just so that everyone is aware, I have the right and option to decide to post a comment or not. Foul language, inappropriate comments, lashing out at the world, or posting irrelevant ad links are a few reasons why posts may be rejected. My daughter & her friends like to frequently see what is being posted so therefore I would like to keep it clean.
I also have a tendency to reject "Anonymous" posts as I feel the content is not verifiable, therefore is often either irrelevant or not viable.
If your comment has been accepted - it will generally appear in less than 24 hours! Thanks Gina
