Interesting article. I treat stretch goal as another management tool. Just like any other tool - it can be demotivating and harm managers/employees/organization if you do not know how to use it. The article is true if you have over-stretched goals. However, we are talking about stretch goal; which, to me, means realistic goals. It totally depends on the managers whether he/she is setting the goals for both manager and employee to succeed or fail.
