Same can be said for San Fran, who back in the 70's had a mayoral candidate by the name of Jello Biafra. He was the lead singer of the Dead Kennedy's. Part of his platform included making it mandatory that businessmen wear clown suits within city limits, andhaving the parks department sell eggs and tomatoes to throw at the businessmen. Believe it or not, he finished 4th, and the person that finished in 3rd was Sister Boom-Boom, a drag queen. I only wish i were making this up.

NEW ORLEANS -- Indicted Rep. William Jefferson on Saturday finished atop a field of seven candidates in Louisiana's Democratic primary for his 2nd District seat.
Jefferson is charged with bribery, obstruction of justice, wire fraud, money laundering and racketeering. Officials alleged Monday that the nine-term representative used the power of his office to take hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes — benefiting himself and his family — from U.S. businesses and to influence foreign officials.
The nine-term congressman now faces a Nov. 4 runoff against political newcomer and former television reporter Helena Moreno, the only white candidate running in the mostly black district.
It's too bad that for many voters, skin color trumps all manner of illegality and corruption. Next to Detroit, New Orleans is the butt-hole of America, and it's for the same reasons. These voters will tolerate corruption, dishonesty, and graft from a politician, while they remain mired in poverty, squalor, and despair, so long as the politician has the right skin color and plays the race game around election time.
