I have always wanted to make a christmas pudding - but it will probably have to wait until next year.

Oh wow! How exciting! I cannot wait to see the pudding cake in all its blazing glory! Do you slice it in the end? or is scooped out with a spoon? Do add ice cream or double cream on top? I know so many questions. I can't wait to see the end result!

Hi Gigi,
It's quite rich so you cut it into slices. It is traditionally served with Brandy butter - a sort of boozy buttercream made with butter, brown sugar and Brandy. I'm not a fan of Brandy butter myself, so I like mine with custard - but cream or ice cream would also work. Each to their own.

Yum, that looks like a great pud.
I'm with you on the Coca Cola advert too - that's when you know it's Christmas! But of course the first mince pie is also a big moment! :D

and a recipe for baking mince pies here: http://appleandspice.blogspot.com/2007/12/festive-mince-pies.html

I'm planning to make my own mince pies with homemade pastry in a week or so. Hope this helps in the meantime. I'm not on Twitter, I'm behind the times when it come to things like that

Gorgeous steamed pudding! My aunt used to make one for us each year. Maybe it's my turn now. This looks like a good one.
