[Image]Peter Chattaway alerted my attention to the news that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment are to release a "definitive edition" DVD of The Passion of the Christ in February. Peter notes that there'sNo word yet on whether this will include the original theatrical version of the film, the recut version, and/or some new version. Two years ago, Fr. William J. Fulco said Mel Gibson was preparing a DVD with 15 hours of bonus material, so it will be interesting to see just how much of that material ends up on the new disc; and it will also be interesting to see whether Gibson's recent quest for forgiveness from the Jewish community will be reflected on this disc.Peter cited his source as Davis DVD who also say that the DVD will be "a two-disc special edition featuring an anamorphic widescreen transfer, Aramaic Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS Surround tracks and English subtitles". *And Much, Much MoreMuch, much more sounds kind of vague, I wonder if they will include some of the material that ended up onn the promotional DVDs, and some of the interviews that Gibson did in the lead up to the film's release? I also wonder what will be in the deleted scenes, particularly as, at the time, Gibson gave the impression that these scenes were cut not to cause offence to the Jewish community.

There's no news whether this is just a North American release of the film, or whether it will also get released elsewhere.
