A good friend of mine who, through geneology research, found a chunk of white family members in rural Arkansas, told me recently that most of them were going to vote for Obama.

On one hand she was a little distressed because they weren't necessarily driven by the issues but thought he was the type of person "they could have a beer with". On the other hand, these were folks who lived in a largely segregated society for most of their lives and to actually have them commit to voting for someone like Obama is pretty darned amazing.

At this point, I'm willing to take any little bit of progress we can get.

I hope humanity can rise above our petty racial bias. It is our only hope.
As a white truck driver from the deep south I have have been amazed at times by the inherent understanding and compassion for others that truckers have. When you see a emergency on the road you will see a trucker running to help. We have a national emergency. I hope you will see us run to the polls and vote for Obama. Keep the faith.

I love that they are doing this and doing it so publicly as well. It is good for healing the wounds of racism.

imho, this is what Obama offers to people - to give them space to let their best, & not their worst, shine.

gives me hope for my race. ;)
