Good, but there's still a ways to go in understanding.

"Banks, who once praised the pre-operative transsexual saying, 'I tell my staff, 'This girl is absolutely amazing,'' made a point to express that the reason for King's dismissal was because of a difficulty to stand out in photos and not because of her sexual orientation."

I have a feeling Tyra knows the difference between sexual orientation and gender expression.

"...make her a woman..."

I suppose it's going to take a long time to get people to understand about this one. Isis is already a woman, Ms. Bland! And would be even if she never had GRS.

> But many wonder if mainstream TV viewers are really ready to embrace a transgender person –and not just use them as window dressing for shock value

That may be, but the more transgendered people are visible, the more the shock wears out and it becomes something normal.

Tyra's use of "sexual orientation" has to be a mistake on her part. I agree, she does know the difference.
Look for Alexandra Billings soon guest starring on "Eli Stone". Alex says when she first went to auditions for a Transgender part, it would be just her and male actors in dresses. Now there are maybe five actual Transwomen at some auditions. I guess more Trans actors are getting out there.
