First of all, mate, sorry it took me so long to get off my arse and take a serious look at the 'Yard. I must say I find your published views warming, your reviews enlightening and your comments section very funny. It's not often I've read a review and felt as though I've actually played the game myself (unless I've actually played the game myself). Maybe you've saved me money that would have been spent on games (for a console I haven't got- yes, that would be pretty fucking stupid). Good reading anyway.

Nice to see that you're committed to a console that seems to be bringing you joy. You're ability to become absorbed in one game and swiftly move on to another never ceases to amaze me. In retrospect, I'm surprised you only had an X-box for a while. Or perhaps those are darker days I shouldn't mention... Our Stu has now invested in an X-box360. I'll leave the judgement to you, my friend.

Sorry for the long post with no real point to it - I've been off work citing reasons as to "feeling like utter shit" and consequently I'm a tad bored. Feel free to rip my post to shreds in a witty reply of some sort.

Ha Ha, good to hear from you mate! Thanks for the comments. I 'spoke' to Stu on MSN recently, I think he's sold his 360 due to lack of interest! Unlike the Dreamcast, which is still entertaining me a good 4 years after it's untimely death! Ah Prestwich. Nice place. Apart from Ray. lol

and now for a comment actually related to your post...

if the machine has pedals and no chair, whoever runs that arcade could at least provide a cheap-and-nasty, plastic-cum-shit chair (plastic, cum AND shit? maybe not). Gamers would appreciate the courtesy rather than whinge about the chair not having built-in speakers, sub-woofer, side airbags and flight-simualtoresque shockers to provide the ultimate in realistic crash experiences. Actually, I might be on to something there... deviate from the racing line at your peril!

The Xbox 360 is a medicore console thus far. The games aren't anything special, the graphics aren't too great, and its overall not worth the money in my opinion.

btw, are you still due to sail into the sunset with more surveying equipment than you can shake a stick at this year? We're going to have to meet up before then.

Yes, speaking of the 360 I was put off just by the price. Is it still £300 (English)? And how many games have actually been released? The fact this site even exists is a testament to the fact that you can get an older console really cheap and enjoy it. The fact that the 360 is Microsoft's baby just heaps further insult on top of the price.

ye olde - I thought about asking for a chair, but if you look at the pic, it becomes apparent that if you sit down, you're actually too low to see the screen!!!

And yes, I am due to sail this September...a meeting of minds is required before then squire.

Ross - yeah I agree too. Nothing I've seen so far has even half interested me. Even Perfect Dark Zero...I was a HUGE fan of the original - so much so that I wrote to Rare to tell them, and they wrote back saying "thanks a lot!"

Like a true geek, said letter is now framed and hangs above my monitor!! :-)

That's incredibly sad. I got a letter published in Edge (E108), but I didn't frame it!

About the ads; i'm not sure it would much of a difference. The PS2 launch had those stupid surrealist ads remember, and it still sold tons.

I'm surprised by the absence of a 'K' list celebrity such as Paul Ross or Phill Jupitus stood by the machines, wittering on about how wonderful wanking was in the 1970's or something like that. I was in Blackpool recently and saw a 'Donkey Kong' video game from about 1981. The kind that looks like a table with the screen facing upwards and you sit on a small stool to play. I so desparately wanted a go but unfortunatley, I was fresh out of shillings!!

Lol, flyte, surely Phil Jupitus is lower than 'K' in the celebrity stakes?!

Oh yeah son_et_lumiere, I remember those...the Third Place, I believe it was called. Third place behind the Gamecube and Xbox I presume. Yak.
