For the bulk of my comments on today's Bureau of Lies Damn Lies and Statistics March Unemployment report read this. Because nothing has changed.
I said it then and many times before and since, as the 99ers expire their benefits in greater numbers and are no longer counted in the BLS unemployment roles THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE WILL DROP. But that is not a good thing.
Because IF only 120,000 new jobs were added
AND the number of people not in the labor force is a record 87,897,000
THEN HOW can the unemployment rate fall from 8.3% to 8.2 %?
These are questions Americans should ask themselves but don't or won't.
And Barack Obama is counting on that willful ignorance to use in his re-election campaign.
