Just now on the local news at noon, the anchor stated, "The unemployment rate will be down to 8% on election day. The Obama administration will save America" -- or some such. Pfffft.

-----------

With all of the unemployed, how are those swelling ranks of disability benefits being covered?

My wife works for a place that deals with people with disability. She says claims are up and people are indignant when they are denied for some really dumb things they are trying to claim. Meanwhile the governor is nplanning on big cuts in disability payments. She said there was a rally in Harrisburg about it yesterday but I haven't seen anything about it yet.

Hi Midnight.

In April the number of people not in the labor force rose by a whopping 522,000 from 87,897,000 to 88,419,000. This is the highest on record.Labor Force Participation Rate Lowest Since 1981.

Hmmmmm.......I wonder by how much the number of food stamp users went up?

Manipulating the books, a pitty he can't make these people 'dissapear' completely.

Israel's "ever low" 5.4% unemployment - jumped to 7% in a blink of an eye, coz OECD asked Mr Stainitz to use a "different Formula"...

So, 27,000 "New beggars" were added to the list!...
I say, it is more then 10% (at least)!
Wait and see after elections...

My son is in IT. He works for a successful company. He is doing ok because they are. The growth part of their business is almost ALL hospital support based. HIPAA compliance based work making it all more profitable and complex. Everyone else is flat or slowly decaying.

My daughter is in early childhood intervention, i.e. social services counseling.... govt funded, obviously,.. SHE CAN'T PERFORM ALL THE WORK THEY WANT HER FOR.

Ditto for my son's long time girlfriend.

My younger son is a successful bartender (though he was also trained for IT and circuity design) at a well known resort.

Medical, social services, hospitality.
Anyone here remember those charts I put up from the US dept of labor?

Anyone in the USA designing low friction wings out there? Taking risk developing brand new drugs with possible single payer govt mandates ahead? Doing materials research and engineering on design and manufacturing of fireproofing, low weight, better fossil fuel engines, more efficient coal burning, better production lines, washers and dryers, receiver and amps? Speakers?

Medical, social services, hospitality.

If you aren't serving the sick, counseling the unemployed, underemployed or abusive, or helping the the remainder get slammed, your opportunities are shrinking, not growing with the current ways of living, and governing.

Major change is coming for better or worse

I am praying that Obama loses by a wide margin and that Romney will be able to do some things to quickly get the economy moving.
He will probably only get a couple of chances to get it right and stop the US plunge over the fast approaching cliff.
