If Abdulmutallab had been successful in blowing up the plane, I have no doubt that the TSA and FBI would once again have concocted another theory, and would be saying, as predictably usual: "This wasn't terrorism." And we would never really know.
More and more people have finally figured out that the government agencies sworn to protect its citizens, is only interested in protecting itself.

"The Obama Administration is attempting to shift blame for Abdulmutallab, pointing reporters to information that the Nigerian was given a visa by the U.S. embassy in London to travel to the U.S. in 2008, around the same time that he graduated from University College London, a well-respected university. But the State Department source says at that time Abdulmutallab was not on a watch list and traveled to Houston on that visa without incident. A year later, in May 2009, his application for a student visa to return to Britain was rejected because the college Abdulmutallab claimed he would attend was "bogus," and that red flag was shared with U.S. State Department, Homeland Security Department, U.S. Justice Department, and almost certainly U.S. intelligence agencies." bg@gwp

What I find most interesting about the flight 253 attempt is the increasingly obvious complexity of what at first appeared to be just another botched bombing. Not only did Abdulmutallab apparently have accomplices at every stage of the operation, there appear to have been red flags deliberately raised to test responses:

Mutallab and the "Smart Dressed Man" approached the counter in Amsterdam within the hearing of other passengers and requested he be allowed to board without a passport.

Some sort of exchange took place with airport officials.

He was allowed to board with no luggage and a one-way ticket paid for in cash.

Mutallab was reportedly asked what he had in his pocket by a cabin crew member and replied "explosive device".

The entire flight may have been videotaped, according to a witness.

Another passenger may have been an accomplice with explosives hidden in his carry-on.

Mutallab stayed in a restroom for 20 minutes and covered the lower part of his body after he emerged.

There was no significant reaction to any of this behavior from the airlines, security personnel, or passengers until the explosives were actually lit and started a fire.

While perhaps not as elaborate as the "dry runs" taken by the 9/11 jihadists (Atta kept popping up all over the skies), the current rash of incidents may represent a series of "dry runs" in which there is reduced concern over whether the perps are apprehended. Obviously, if Mutallab's bomb had worked, they'd have gotten the disaster they wanted. But though it didn't, they may at least have a fully videotaped "post-game" record of what went wrong, the reactions of the targets to various behaviors, etc., to help prepare them for the next try.

no doubt if the plane had been destroyed it would have been deemed a wiring malfunction near the fuel tank/////

they are (the government) working real hard to keep up the beat cop charade of saying "nothing to see here move along"....

and it is all becuase of political correctness!!!!!!!!!!!

political corectness is at the heart of it!

we cannot defeat the enemy unless we correctly identify the enemy.

and wanding my 70 year old polish mother's knees who has two fake titanium knees and the 8 inch scars over both to prove it is not correctly identifying the enemy!

it is P.C. bullshit!

Yeah, and now the dipsh*** are hollering for the TSA idiots to stare at our junk, (save the good ones - the stacked blondes - who wants to wager on how quickly those hit you tube?), while the bombers just shove the stuff up their, um, body cavities.

So, we are all then going to be cavity searched?

Yeah - the CIA, TSA and every other agency we pay to protect us screws up and it is just another "opportunity" to tighten the screws on US citizens.

Oh, how I long to tape an aluminum foil "bird" to my stomach and watch the reactions. . .

Hmmm, wonder how the hijab-ed crowd will react to body scans? Probably be exempted.
