Absolutely wonderful! Food is a great comfort, isn't it? And lack of it is an awful thing. I remember friends bringing us meals when our first daughter came home, and I never feel that they've fully appreciated how truly grateful we were for those simple gestures. I wish I could be one of those ppl who can make a bit of meat and potatoes stretch out into extra places at the table, but the idea just sends me into a panic. Everyone should have a friend like Tasha. Thanks for sharing that lovely memory. xx

Tasha Saves Thanksgiving. in 1998 I brought my first daughter home from the hospital the day before Thanksgiving. We were far way from home and had no family around. We had ordered an entire Thanksgiving dinner with a Cajun fried turkey.
When our friends the Timmells went to pick it up, they had sold it to someone else and none to give them. It was sad news for them and us and they were spending Thanksgiving dinner at our house.
It was a rough time for sure, new baby, feeling a little lonely with no family around and then the tradition of Thanksgiving dinner, gone! Jeff and Kevin drove up and down the main drag in Metairie to find anything open. They found a bar open and came home with chicken fingers! Sick... my kids won't even eat those.
That night Tasha found out about our day and she came over with Jenny and her mom and brought us a sampling of their dinner along with the best cheese ball I had ever had. I had told her on the phone "we are fine (which we were not) you don't need to bring us anything" she obviously knew and rushed over with turkey that saved the day.
Such a simple thing to her I am sure, but it was a lifesaver for me and a story we still tell Annie Kate about her first thanksgiving and the service that was given to our family.
