So true. Every time we are in Paris I drag my kids around to umpteen museums and monuments. Sometimes they enjoy it, sometimes they throw tantrums, sometimes they fall asleep in strollers. Ultimately it is worth it, but it is not always fun! Your adventures always look fun, but I guess because we are not seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff, eh?

I love your honesty in this post. Good times are often had in the middle of the harder times. Thanks for reminding me let go of that "it has to be perfect" mentality we all get caught up in. AK's personality just shines through in this photo. One of my favorites.
So right there with you on that. I don't beleive in allowing my kids to slow me down too much, though I will admit they have some. That also goes to show that pictures can be deceiving, and we can make things seem any way we want on our blogs.
Good point. Might as well enjoy these times. I think your girls will probably end up loving these things like you do - or at least having a patriotism and appreciation for it. I love the quote with your card. Beautiful card/message.

I have received many emails and comments on my blog being amazed that we take our kids to many museums and such and that they must be so good. Ha Ha. Remember they are kids. Everytime we do such an activity we have meltdowns, throwdowns, and just plain downs. They get hungry and tired and bored. There is probably more crying than not on many excursions. Seconds before this photo above was taken Annie Kate was at the end of her rope with seeing art on the wall. She was down right ready to go home. So, if I have painted a picture that all of our adventures are breezy and relaxing, it is not the case. I would never think anyone would want to see photos of tantrums on the front steps of each memorial. So my message comes before my next post of one of our best days in the city yet, but one with the most crying and tantrums and no stroller. If you are waiting to do fun and educational things with your kids, when they will appreciate it and have fun - you will be doing it during spring break when they are in college. I say don't wait, just do it now! enjoy!
