Spider-M4n? What the deuce?

I'll just quote HandsomeStan on this one (from a recent Tron post): "I've never been a fan of the "one number as a letter in the title" schtick, i.e. Se7en, Numb3rs, etc. It's usually just so jarring, and you have to think about the word twice. I don't have that kind of time."

I like the title SE7EN, because a) it's Fincher; b) it's Kyle Cooper doing the title sequence (over the Nine Inch Nails song) (and he's a genius); and c) that particular example of the numeral in the word works well; it messes with your eyes in a pleasing fashion. All the other examples (including Spider-M4n or whatever the fuck) are terrible.

Se7en works because "7" is almost a "v" rotated.

Is it me or are we getting more spam than usual? Does ANYONE fall for that shit? I can't imagine even the most demented elderly old biddy falling for scams like that.

Oh, you'd be surprised. They actually had to take my step-grandmother's mail delivery away, since she was writing so many checks.

I just changed the settings to spike the anonymous comments. It's now only anyone with a Google account. We'll see how that goes.

I like the repartee with the spambots sometimes, but two bots on one post is too much. Besides, we're never going to get another one as funny as on the Jane Austen zombie post from Tuesday.

I can't believe I missed that Jane Austen spambot - that is fucking awesome! And each comment was a contest to be funnier, and each one won!

I say, leave 'em in. The more out-of-context, the better. We're in such a closed loop environment here, it's nice when something totally unexpected happens. It's like a naked person running through a board meeting, or a major kitchen appliance suddenly sighing, saying "That's it, I've had it," and walking out the door.

Great, great stuff. The spice of the blog.
