I'm still going into it with extreme caution. The review reeks of blind "I got to see it first!" enthusiasm.

i've never read or seen anything by joss whedon that i didn't think was fresh, interesting, and fun. this review seems exactly in line with what i'd expect out of a joss whedon project -- ignoring for a second how big a deal it is.

("and how it being a big deal may make for a potential disappointment situation", is the end of that sentence.)

I have high hopes but I'm also trying to maintain some caution. The review was pretty gushy, and Joss Whedon fans have a tendency to go there (and I am a fan, but not of everything he's done, like for instance Buffy.)

He wrote an X-men title for 24 issues that was unbelievably good; it was exactly what you want from a fresh take on familiar characters. For that reason I can't think of anyone better to tackle this movie.

No one has anything to worry about. The movie is terrific and sets a new bar for what we should expect from these kind of projects. When I am saying good things about Scarlet Johanson's acting as I am walking out of the theatre then that tells you all you need to about how much you will enjoy this film.
