I still like Crystal Skull, wanna fight about it? Also, any list that doesn't have The Phantom Menace as #1 is questionable. Still, I pretty much agree with everything on that list (of the films that I have seen).

Also, was anyone really anticipating "Jersey Girl"?

The only one I strongly disagree with is Kill Bill 2.

And Phantom Menace should have been #1.

Yeah, Kill Bill 2 was awesome - I didn't even notice it on the list.

I was nearly driven to the point of rage upon seeing Kill Bill 2 and WILL fight over it! What the hell is the justification?!?!?!??? It was a freaking masterpiece!!

I think if the blog writers had dug deeper they would have found more. There's nothing there earlier than '89, implying that there was either a)no movie hype, or b)everyone's standards were lower than they have been in the last 23 years.

Actually disappointing, as in I was expecting something and got let down (in no particular order, but TPM deserves the top spot):

Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
The Godfather Part 3
Spider-Man 3
Superman Returns
Once Upon A Time In Mexico
Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Godzilla
Prometheus
Alien 3
Quantum Of Solace
Terminator Salvation

Movies I disliked but wasn't disappointed by, because I didn't care so much going in:

Green Lantern
Fantastic Four
Congo
The Lady In The Water
The Avengers
Alice In Wonderland
Catwoman
Hulk
Jersey Girl
Batman and Robin
The Golden Compass
(I didn't so much dislike this, but it made no impression on me.)

I haven't seen the others, but I suspect I'd include Jennifer's Body and The Spirit in the Actually Disappointing category.

Good catch on the myopic film history, Crystal. I thought the "disappointing" angle was forced on a lot of those entries, particularly Lady in the Water. Who didn't want that to suck?

I also have a big chip on my shoulder about the generally-held opinions of the Matrix sequels, but whatever. Can't drive myself crazy.

Nice breakdown, Octo. Of the movies you liked these are the ones that I've seen,

Ghostbusters 2
Vanilla Sky
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Iron Man 2
Kill Bill Part 2
Eyes Wide Shut
The Matrix Revolutions
X-Men: The Last Stand

I enjoyed all of them. I've never understood the dislike for Matrix Revolutions. I always consider Matrix 2 and 3 to be one ginat movie cut in half (see also Kill Bill and thirds the Lord of the Rings films).

Also, I'm with you on Alien 3, which I always thought was an awful movie (the special edition is much better because a lot of cut footage is restored). I remember seeing Alien 3 in college with a bunch of friends and we were all profoundly disappointed as we left the theater. Alien 3 was 90 minutes of unlikable people sitting around having faux profound conversations.
