To elaborate, I am so totally taken by the title of this movie, and particularly by the title above that pic of Mr. Brain on the balcony. I absolutely love this crazy Japanese stuff.

I am certainly finding SBIG gold this season and it's coming in the form of brains! So last night Tony & I were watching Whose Line is it Anyway? and they did a captioning segment that was so hilarious we just had to find the film it was from. After some research my husband hit the jackpot! Luck being with us, it was readily available to watch as well. So here we go, first a little history about the film. Nine short films were made from the Japanese Super Giant series, three of these shorts were spliced and diced together to make one feature length film. One was shot in 4.3 while the other two were in widescreen format so they had to use a pan and scan effect to gel them together into this box office buster right here. Hilarity ensues from the very first moment where the peace council from the emerald planet gather together to discuss the impending threat of the evil brain monster.

It is decided that Starman will take on the evil brain monster that cannot be killed (yes they actually say that) and in his infinite wisdom and spiffy duds he will find a way to rid the universe of this pest before the earth is destroyed.

In no time at all we find Starman engaged in battle with the evil brain monster. It is an epic fight as they throw out their best karate moves and leap from build to building in perfectly choreographed awesomeness.

Yeah I had onions last night, you wanna make something of it?
But don't think the battle stops there, Starman must also defeat the intergalactic equivalent to Hitler's gestapo which is lead by Marilyn Manson's grandmother.

If this isn't reason enough for you to invest the 1 hour and 18 minutes of your life into watching this film, then chew on this little piece of trivia from the pages of Wikipedia:
"Super Giant was played in all films by respected film/TV actor Ken Utsui. However, Utsui hated playing Super Giant, and until his death, he refused to talk about the role. This was partially on account of the somewhat embarrassing costume, especially the somewhat overstuffed crotch area (the producers thought that females were attracted to men with big anatomy, so they stuffed the crotch area with cotton). Nevertheless, this did not stop the audience's enjoyment of the movies."

I forgot to mention the bad guys throwing toothpicks at Starman while they were fighting him. I guess that was the only weapon they could afford.
