Why do I get the feeling that JPX is quietly pleased with the negative review?

I still plan on seeing it over Kissmas but my expectations are relatively low.

Every review I have read has essentially said the exact same thing. I'm not pleased because I did enjoy the Rings movies (one time). However, I'm kind of sick of Hobbit world and don't have any interest in this. the fact that nothing happens during the first hour is the only deterrent I need.

will you review it for us, johnny sweatpants?

the notion of making 3 movies out of one book does fit with the "padded out" criticism noted in this review (and with the critical consensus thus far). it's just discouraging, given the talent and energy involved.

one reviewer's comment: "Peter Jackson catches a nasty case of George Lucas-itis with his latest Middle earth saga."

wah!

I'm withholding judgement until I see it, but when he managed 3 movies for 3 books last time it's very hard to imagine the 3 movies/1 book decision to be about art and not dollas (although there is a HUGE battle at the end of The Hobbit, so that could be spectacular).

I've heard good word of mouth from a couple of sources, but I don't know anyone who's seen it in 48 fps.

I have a friend who's an effects animator for Disney, and he's psyched for 48 fps. His point: 24 fps does not allow for a camera pan at the same speed at which a person turns their head, and that's an obstacle he would like removed. I guess we'll see.

I'm pretty amped to get back to that world at all. Among all the sword and sorcery cinema that exists, it's pretty unique.

On the flip side, here's this:
