From cinemablend, It was way back in 2005 that we first started reporting on a supposed WWII movie from Quentin Tarantino called Inglorious Bastards. Over the years, we’ve mentioned some casting rumors that were debunked and just sort of figured this was going to be like “Chinese Democracy,” something that might come out some decade, but probably wouldn’t be an eighteenth as good as it needs to be to justify the wait. Well, Tarantino is really serious this time, and we could see this movie as early as next year. When we do see it next year, or in 2035 possibly, it will be Kill Billed into two movies. That’s right, instead of not making one WWII movie anytime soon, now Tarantino is not making two WWII movies anytime soon. Now that’s progress.

I have to admit, most of this information comes from an awkwardly written story on Ain’t It Cool and I may have some of it wrong. What I can deduce is that, according to Ain’t it Cool, “years ago”in Venice or maybe recently in Los Angeles, Tarantino interviewed Enzo Castellari, who is the director of the original Inglorious Bastards, released in 1978. The interview was part of a new DVD release of the original film coming out in July and Ain’t in Cool got an advanced copy. I could be wrong about all of this, since it never directly says any of this in a cohesive flow, but you can piece it together by tossing out unneeded words, hyphens, exclamation points, and getting down to the nitty gritty.

Well, during the interview, Tarantino makes a lot of comments about his own remake. In fact, if this summary is accurate, it was little of Tarantino interviewing Castellari and mostly Tarantino talking about his movie. At some point, he notes the following, in Harry Knowles’ words, “Well, as Quentin has been writing this - he's done so much research into the actual events of World War II as well as the cinema of World War 2 - that the story kept growing and growing. It became too big for one film - so he's turned it into 2. That's right, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS will be two movies... not unlike KILL BILL. So that's the big news that I found from the interview.” So, Inglorious Bastards might be two, 2, or II films.

I certainly am interested in anything Trantino does. I just watched Jackie Brown on television again, and, boy is that a good movie. Even edited with mother farmer as every third word, it just works. I think two movies at once allows a director to get too bloated, so I don’t have high hopes if this comment he made “years ago” in Venice or recently in Los Angeles is still true. Make one film Quentin. Just one good movie.
