(2012) ****
Dracula, left alone to raise his
daughter Mavis, builds a grand hotel for them to live in. The hotel is a
safe haven for monsters, a place where they can enjoy themselves
without the threat of humans coming after them with pitchforks and
torches. The monsters have gathered to celebrate Mavis’ 118th birthday
but an unexpected guest shows up, a human boy. Dracula disguises the boy
as a monster and attempts to sneak him out before the guests spot him
and go into a panic. Before he can get the boy out, Mavis spots him and
becomes smitten with the young “monster”.

What a fun and hilarious film. Abduscias and I took a little trip to the theater yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed this fun monster bash. I welcomed some much-needed laughs after enduring the torture of Rubber’s Lover. Seriously, this was a real laugh out loud film; the whole theater was filled with jovial patrons. Great stuff for those of you thonners out there with little ones as well. Not horror, but it is filled with monsters so I feel it belongs here. If you need a break from the gore and spooks I highly recommend taking this one in.

Cool. I'm glad this was fun. It seems like a premise that can't lose, but we all know how often "can't lose" manages to do just that.

K took the boys to this Friday night and they all loved it. I had shit to do, and plus it was pre-October, or I would have gone!
