An anthology with a 50% success ratio sounds pretty good, it seems like there are a lot that have only one good story (although there aren't a lot with TEN stories. Jeez).

Comprised of 10 interlocking, Halloween stories, ‘Tales of Halloween’ echoes the same look and format of the far superior Trick ‘r Treat (2007). Resuming her DJ role from ‘The Fog’ (1980) Adrienne Jo Barbeau narrates the loosely related tales involving a hodgepodge of ghouls, ghosts, and even space aliens. Aiming for a Creepshow or Tales From the Crypt vibe, the film is more comedic than horrific although there is plenty of gore and violence.

The best part of the film might be this kick-ass poster! I love horror anthology yet like most anthology packages ‘Tales of Halloween’ is a mixed bag of highs and lows with approximately half of the stories being fun while the other half are just dumb. On the plus side all stories capture that Halloween/autumnal feeling with plenty of jack-o’-lanterns, spooky lawn decorations, grave stones and dazzling fall foliage. Never scary, the short segments nevertheless have some charm and the film would be a good double feature to Trick ‘r Treat for a night of Halloween ambiance.

Never scary is kind of a turn off for me but I do love these Halloween themed anthologies.
