I often think of what I call the Cohen Brothers' "green period," which is marked by this movie and the following two (Barton Fink and Hudsucker Proxy). This distinction is nothing fancy, it's just that those movies seem to have a lot of green in the settings.

HowEVER, I first saw Miller's Crossing on a broken TV that made everything green. I've seen it a couple of times since but I've never been able to shake that memory.

I don't know that I've even heard of this. That's a lot of stars though!

I had to google the movie because I couldn't remember if I'd seen it or not. I have, but my memories of the film are fuzzy, you make me want to rewatch it.

Totally agree, AC. I always think of this one in the ranks of Raising Arizona and Blood Simple as their early low budget genius period. Hudsucker and Barton Fink are 2 I've never been able to get through, so I think of those as their "sucky" period. After which they started kicking ass again.

I probably need to give Barton and Hudsucker another chance.
